Presenting the Geoscience Behind the UK’s Shale Potential, 4-5 March 2014
Shale UK 2014 presented a state-of-the-art view of the geology of shale gas to a diverse audience of industry decision-makers, policy-makers, regulators, community representatives and others. The wide-ranging and engaging programme of talks over the two days of the conference featured leading experts in many relevant areas of geology from across industry, government and academia. As well as drawing on expertise on resource exploration and production from the hydrocarbons industry, the conference also featured hydrogeologists, engineering specialists and regulators, who presented a geological view of the potential impacts and environmental management of shale gas extraction. Sessions featuring speakers from North America provided an opportunity to examine what lessons can be learned from the ‘shale gas revolution’ in the US. The Geological Society was delighted to work with Global Event Partners in delivering this conference and, in so doing, to bring together speakers and delegates from such a wide range of backgrounds.
